Presentation
Currently I am an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics and Applied Mathematics (DIMAp) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). I am also member of the Imaging, Graphics, and Intelligent Agents Research Laboratory (Imagina Research Lab).
My professional interests fall into three interrelated broad categories, visualization, augmented/virtual reality,, and digital games. My research explores the role a three-dimensional virtual scene in supporting data visualization, educational gamming, and rehabilitation applications. My current research projects focus on issues related to the design of such virtual environments; the tasks required to interact with a scene, such as navigation, exploration, and selection of elements; and, the application of these ideas in important areas such as rehabilitation and diagnosis (audiometry), as well as in designing and evaluating innovative interfaces (i.e. based on augmented reality and gesture recognition) for improving reading comprehension skills in children.
